History
Aleppo has been settled for millennia and served as a major commercial hub across Assyrian, Hellenistic, Roman, Ayyubid, Mamluk and Ottoman periods. The Ancient City of Aleppo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been affected by conflict damage and ongoing restoration.
